Our Life Group is reading through The Best Question Ever by Andy Stanley. This week we talked about what is the wisest thing to do with our finances.

It is natural to follow this order with our money:

  1. Spend it
  2. Pay Bills
  3. Pay Taxes
  4. Save It
  5. Give It

We unpacked a little bit of what God wants us to do with our money. First we are to give it.  We are to honor God with the first of our money.

So the prioritized order would be:

  1. Give It
  2. Save It
  3. Pay Bills
  4. Pay Taxes
  5. Spend it

I then asked them to take the 90 Day Giving Challenge as a Life Group. So the next 90 days we are going to start giving more. Whether some are not giving at all or if some have giving as a part of their routine. We are going to “put God to the test” in our Giving. (Malachi 3)

Giving out love not mandate.

Some think that tithing is an Old Testament principle and it’s not a practice needed for the New Testament Church. And I agree. The New Testament way is giving it all.

The beauty of giving is that it’s a law of God’s Kingdom. Like gravity, it might not make since but there are principles that make it work. (Matt 6:33)
