I thought this was an interesting Proverb:

Proverbs 26:23
Smooth talk from an evil heart
is like glaze on cracked pottery.

Many times we come in contact with people and our first impressions are sometimes our only impressions because we can only see one dimensionally. We can’t see the heart of a person like God sees the heart.

Only through Holy Spirit and His discernment can we see a person’s heart and know their thoughts.

However, we can see our heart and we know what our thoughts are. Most importantly, God sees our heart and thoughts and we will give an account not only for our words, but I wonder if we will be judged for our thoughts.

Jesus saw straight through to the thoughts of the teachers of his day:

Matthew 9:4
Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said,
“Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts?”

Jesus holds them accountable for their thoughts and I believe that we will be held accountable for our thoughts even though we might not speak them or say things contradictory to what we are thinking.

What we speak is not as important as what we think.
