In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:5-11 (NIV)
We all have developed a way of thinking. We developed it through how we were raised. The ways we were treated and our experiences effect our mindset.
Our mindset affects our relationships. It causes us to react in ways we will regret. Our mindset causes us not to trust. It causes us to assume. It causes us to think of ourselves first.
The problem is our mindset is flawed. It’s not perfect.
This is why we are to pattern our mindset after Jesus.
Who modeled us to put the interest of others ahead of ourselves just as He did by giving up His position, his equality with God, and serving us by giving His life for us.
Through Jesus’ obedience even to death, He now has a name that is greater than any other name and every knee will one day give honor to the God—Jesus.
This is the mindset we are to have.
