“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:7-11 (NIV)

Do you ever assume the answer so you don’t even ask the question? Like when you see the stickers all over the counter and the only people in the room are you and your child. You look at the stickers and look at your smiling three year old and don’t even ask who did it.

What about with God? Do you do this with Him? You don’t think He’ll hear your prayer, much less answer it, so you avoid asking all together.

Have you had a question you wanted to know the answer to so badly that you stayed awake googling it to find it?

Or what about this? Were you ever so desperate to find a job that you went door to door asking to fill out an application until someone hired you?

These are descriptions of the effort that Jesus says you will find what you are looking for should you apply the effort.

Have a question or prayer that only God can answer? Ask it and you will receive.

Have something you are searching for? Seek it and you will find it.

Is there an area of your life where you need to continue to knock until the door opens?

Jesus tells us we can ask God for help, seek God, and knock on His door at any time and He will respond to us as a Father would His child and give us what we need.

Why? Because God is good and that can’t change.

My next step:
Don’t assume that God doesn’t want to hear my requests, but ask, seek, and knock and trust my Heavenly Father to answer.
