Here are some scriptures on giving thanks that I’ve been thinking on over the last week. They were also the scriptures that I used for the preservice time of prayer we had last Sunday.
Thank God for all the Wonders He’s Made
I come to your altar, O LORD,
7 singing a song of thanksgiving
and telling of all your wonders.
8 I love your sanctuary, LORD,
the place where your glorious presence dwells.
Psalm 26:5
Thank God for Our Freedom From the Penalty of Sin
16 O LORD, I am your servant;
yes, I am your servant, born into your household;
you have freed me from my chains.
17 I will offer you a sacrifice of thanksgiving
and call on the name of the LORD.
Psalm 116:16-17
Thank God for Watching Over and Caring For Us
1 Come, let us sing to the LORD!
Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come to him with thanksgiving.
Let us sing psalms of praise to him.
3 For the LORD is a great God,
a great King above all gods. 7 for he is our God.
We are the people he watches over,
the flock under his care.

Thank God Because it’s A Good Thing
1 It is good to give thanks to the LORD,
to sing praises to the Most High.

Give Thanks For Everything – the Good, the Bad, the Helpful, the Hurtful
18 Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,19 singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. 20 And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Come before God with Thanksgiving
1 Shout with joy to the LORD, all the earth!

Thank God for His Unchanging Mercy & Compassion
8 The LORD is merciful and compassionate,
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
9 The LORD is good to everyone.
He showers compassion on all his creation.
10 All of your works will thank you, LORD,
and your faithful followers will praise you.
11 They will speak of the glory of your kingdom;
they will give examples of your power.

Thank God in Every Circumstance
16 Always be joyful.
17 Never stop praying.
18 Be thankful in all circumstances,
for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Thank God for All He Has Done
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
