Cassie and I are on our third year of celebrating Advent as a tradition. Advent is from the Latin word for “coming” and is celebrated the four weeks leading up to Christmas and begins today.

Not only is this a celebration of Jesus coming to be with us and die for us, but it is a time to remember the hope that he is returning for us.

Each week has a focus and the first focus is on Hope.

Today, at dinner, I read this passage to the family after lighting our first candle.

This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he has brought justice through to victory. In his name the nations will put their hope.” (Matthew 12:17-21 NIV)

Jesus is hope. Something desired. Unshaken. Trustworthy. When you can’t place your hope in the government, your family, friends, co-workers, or job… Jesus is…

Leave a comment on what it means to have Jesus as your hope.
