This was our third and final week in our series, What if the Church. The first week we taught that the church is called to look up, then the second week we taught that the church is called to stand out. On Sunday we ended our What if the Church series with my good friend, Matt Miller, the pastor of our church plant – New City Church. He taught us that the church is called to go out.

As the final wrap up to the series, over 3,000 people gathered at the new Livestrong Park (new home of Sporting KC) as we joined the Global Day of Prayer with a prayer and worship service.

It was a great picture of Kansas City’s “C” Church as people from different races, cultures, classes, and denominations gathered to honor God in our worship and pray together. Our Westside team was in charge of the event itself.

Jared, our tech director, did an amazing job acquiring the space and making it sound good. Kathi took charge of all the details of communion, greeters/ushers, security and many other details. Troy, our Worship Pastor, was able to include many leaders across our city in music and to lead prayers and gave a great representation of the diversity in the body of Christ.

Thanks to Mr. Sam McCord for being my stage manager so I could play keys. You owned it, making sure the Pastors were at the right place at the right time. And big thanks to Wes for getting some digital memories and allowing me to post a couple.

Next year we hope to fill Livestrong park.
